From my travels to your plans
Bologna, with room to explore.
My Bologna reels follow the porticoes into Piazza Maggiore, the front of San Petronio and a visit inside Santa Maria della Vita. I stayed at Hotel Il Guercino after arriving from Milan, then travelled onwards to Rimini. Watch those moments below. The suggested itinerary leaves room to explore; partner tours are separate options I am not claiming to have taken.
Follow the porticoes towards Piazza Maggiore, as in my walking reel, and make time to look at the front of San Petronio. My footage also includes a visit inside Santa Maria della Vita. Choose what fits your day and check each venue’s current opening hours and entry arrangements. Keep arrival-day plans flexible.
02 / FOOD & STREETS
Explore the Quadrilatero.
Browse the market streets, decide where you would like to eat and continue towards Santo Stefano. A food tour can add context, but independent wandering is also a good option. Leave room between tastings and a restaurant meal.
03 / OPTIONAL EXTRA
Choose depth over a checklist.
With another day, spend more time in the neighbourhoods or explore a longer portico walk. Keep it optional: check the distance, weather and return route before adding it. For a short break, focus on the centre instead.
Where I actually stayed
Hotel Il Guercino
I checked into Hotel Il Guercino after travelling from Milan to Bologna. My reel takes you inside and captures the character that surprised me. Watch my visit, then check the room type, location and current terms for your own stay.

Bologna food & market tour
Compare a guided walk with local tastings. Different options have different menus and lengths; confirm dietary requirements and inclusions.
Tell a food-tour provider about allergies and dietary requirements before booking. Menus, tastings and substitutions depend on the selected option.
Leave time under the porticoes
Bologna’s UNESCO-listed porticoes are part of the city’s everyday streets. Use the official tourism routes to choose a walk that fits your available time and mobility.
Connect the cities carefully
Combining Bologna with Rimini and San Marino? Treat travel as part of the itinerary and check your exact rail and bus connections before booking separate activities. Avoid promising yourself a full sightseeing day on a transfer day.
